Stoneboy - Bart Lavalee

Manitoba

Born June 30, 1966 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bart became an apprentice to master carver and visionary genius George Arlook in 1988.
His first show was in Sekirk, Manitoba, in 1992 at the first aboriginal art show and exhibition. It was held at the old post office. The show was an overwhelming success and a large number of his pieces were sold to buyers from the United States.
Following this success, Bart produced a large exhibit of his work for the Craft Guild of Manitoba. 20 pieces were presented to the committee and the reviews were very good, praising his work.
At present, he has been carving with master carver George Arlook and they have produced several carvings in collaboration.
